My watercolor captures the magic of an early Albuquerque morning as hot air balloons begin their liftoff for the International Hot Air Balloon Fest. Against the wide New Mexico sky, the rising balloons bring a sense of color, movement, and wonder to the quiet beauty of dawn.

The Navy balloon holds a special story. It portrays a real flight crew from the old Naval Warfare Command (now the Joint Navigation Warfare Center) at Kirtland Air Force Base. My home for 4 years.
