Balloon Festival — Original Oil Painting
Every October, the skies above Albuquerque, New Mexico come alive with thousands of hot air balloons rising into the crisp desert morning — and this painting captures that breathtaking spectacle from ground level, right in the thick of it.
Painted from life experience during my years living in Albuquerque, Balloon Festival places the viewer among the crews and baskets as the balloons inflate and strain toward the sky. The bold, saturated stripes of red, yellow, blue, and green fill the canvas with joyful energy, while tiny figures in the middle ground give a sense of the sheer scale of the event.
