Strokkur Geyser in Iceland - Fine Art Canvas
$41.00
The word geyser comes from this very place.
Strokkur — Icelandic for "churn" — is the geyser that gave the world its name for all geysers. Every two to eight minutes, it erupts without warning, shooting a column of boiling water up to 40 meters into the sky. I was living in Iceland when I caught it mid-burst with my camera, and that photograph became the reference for this watercolor painting.
There's something humbling about standing at the origin of a word. The steam, the sulfur, the silence before the eruption — it all made its way into the painting.
